Preparing for Summer EBT: Tools and Strategies for School Nutrition Leaders
No Kid Hungry collaborated with the School Nutrition Foundation to bring you Preparing for Summer EBT: Tools and Strategies for School Nutrition Leaders, an informative webinar designed to help school nutrition professionals understand and promote Summer EBT in their communities. Inspired by insights from recent Summer EBT focus groups, this webinar highlighted what families need to know—and how schools can help connect them to benefits.
Summer EBT (also known as SUN Bucks) is a new federal program that provides eligible families $120 in additional grocery benefits during the summer months, when school meals are not available. Whether you’re new to Summer EBT or looking for practical strategies to strengthen outreach, this webinar provides the tools and insights you need to help more families access benefits this summer.
Learning Objectives
- Summarize the Summer EBT 101 overview, including how the program works, who needs to apply, and how it complements other summer nutrition supports.
- Discover practices for family outreach, including key messaging considerations for CEP and non-CEP schools and the role of school meal applications and household income forms.
- Apply what you learn from SNA peers: Summer EBT champions in a panel discussion featuring real-world examples of successful family engagement and outreach strategies.
